Well done Anthony Taylor for his speedy reaction in immediately calling on the medical team to assist Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen during Denmarks Euro's clash with Finland. Thankfully Christian is now recovering, and has paid credit to everyone who helped save his life during that unforgettable game.

Anthony was one of our regular referees for a number of years when we hosted the Umbro Cup in Manchester. His father in law, Eddie Tarry was one of our leading management team, himself a Football League Official. Eddie went onto to become a Football League Official Assessor. Eddie was responsible for recruiting and managing our outstanding team of tournament officials for many years, which also included another top referee today - Michael Oliver.

We've also been lucky enough in the past to enjoy the services another top of the top officials - Mark Warren - Staffs FA. Mark was appointed to the line for the famous France v Brazil 1998 World Cup Final in Paris. Mark also officiated a number of our Umbro Finals game. It always made me smile, when ever someone shouted at him 'you don't know what you are doing ref !' I thought - if only you knew.

There is a lot more to it than just blowing a whistle.
